About Our Doctors

Dr. Alfonso GonzalezI am originally from Southern California, but made San Francisco my new home since my graduation from UCSF School of Dentistry. Upon graduation, I immediately started teaching at UCSF and started my private practice in San Francisco. Less than ten years later, I started a second practice in Redwood City. I continued my education by taking various specialized courses all over the United States in everything from TMJ disorders and cosmetic Dentistry to Full Mouth Reconstruction. This has allowed me to provide the best Dental care to my patients. Throughout the years I have obtained a substantial amount of knowledge that has allowed me to provide 99% of the work that my patients need; including implants, braces and extractions. I take pride in being able to treat not just the problem, but also the cause of the pain and discomfort that my patients have, through my knowledge in TMJ stability and disorders. This is an area in which less than 5% of Dentists can treat and are knowledgeable in.

I am especially proud of my work in cosmetic dentistry because it was a goal of mine before I graduated from dental school. I can relate to a lot of my patient’s cosmetic needs since I lost my two front teeth while playing basketball at school when I was only 15 years old. I had to wear a gold bridge which made me so self conscious, that I would cover my mouth when I laughed and I could never bring myself to smile for pictures. I quickly learned how important a beautiful smile is to a person’s self esteem, confidence, and in turn, their overall happiness.

My patients can rely on the fact that I am always up to date with the new information and technology in Dentistry, and that I am constantly striving to be the best. Whenever there is a new discovery in Dentistry, I am on the next flight to learn about it and how it can benefit my patients.

Graciela Gonzalez, office ManagerI have been working at Gonzalez Dental Care for over 25 years now, and have even had all my veneers done by Dr. Gonzalez. As the Office Manager, I have various responsibilities, but what I love most, is when I am able to make a patient feel at home. I have seen most of the same patients coming in for over 20 years, and now they bring in the next generation. We have an array of patients that come thru our doors, form single people, to couples, and very large families. We are able to provide treatment for all family members, from the 1 year old toddler to the more mature elderly patient. I think what gives me the most pleasure is when I see that a patient's brother, cousin, friend, and their families come to our practice. It reinforces my job and what we are here to do. From the start, we wanted to provide the best and most advanced dental treatment to every patient that walks thru our door.

Meritza Gonzalez, Financial CoordinatorI started working with Gonzalez Dental Care once I graduated from San Francisco State and received my Bachelors in Biology. I enjoy helping patients with payment options and making it possible for them to have the Dental work that they need. I work hard in getting all the necessary information from the patient's insurances to make sure that patients do not have any surprise fees after they have their work done. I'm here to help the patients and every day I work hard to ensure everyone whom walks through our front door has a very pleasant experience with us.

Livier (Financial Coordinator) I have been working for Dr. Alfonso Gonzalez, at the Redwood city office, for almost 25 years. Over the years I have seen him grow into an amazing Dentist that loves to help his patients as if they were his own family. I think that this is why I have been able to work in the same place for all these years. It's nice to see the same faces year after year, but I also get great pleasure when I'm able to help new patients when they come in, and they seem so happy that they found our office. Now I have the pleasure of seeing Dr. Gonzalez's daughters have that same impact on the patients. I have a large family of my own, and it gives me great comfort to know that I'm able to help other families get the treatment they need by giving them payment options that work with their particular situation.

Cecy, Dental AssistantI have been a Dental Assistant for Gonzalez Dental Care for over 8 years. I enjoy working at this high-tech office and feel that my skills improve with every day that I work here. There is never a dull moment because we do extractions, implants, root canals and are always upgrading to the newest technology. Recently, I spend a lot of time designing and milling crowns on our new E4D Cad-Cam computer. It allows me to be an artist and work at the same time. Patient comfort and communication are very important to me, and I know that patients feel very comfortable asking me any questions that they may have, or simply just telling me about their day.

Mely Gonzalez, Dental AssistantI have been with Dr. Alfonso Gonzalez since he started practicing in 1981. I have been by his side as I have seen him grow, learn and improve every step of the way. As his skills improved, my knowledge was also expanded. I enjoy organizing the practice and all our materials, which is essential at our practice because of all the different procedures and treatments that we provide. Aside from being a Dental Assistant, I also know my way around the front desk and am able to help patients with any insurance or treatment questions that they may have.
